1903: The Boston Americans top the visiting New York Highlanders 12-5, with a little help from umpire Bob Caruthers, who ejects New York pitcher Jesse Tannehill and 2B Jimmy Williams for arguing balls and strikes.
1930: The Yankee and Tiger outfielders make only two putouts for an AL record which has never been equaled. (The NL record for idleness is one chance ~ Pittsburgh vs. Brooklyn on August 26, 1910). Detroit's George Uhle strikes out 8 in winning 5-4, and dropping the Yanks to 7th place. Hank Johnson (7 innings) and George Pipgras are the New York hurlers.

1953: At Fenway Park, the first-place Yanks beat the Red Sox 6-4. Mickey Mantle hits one homer off Bill Werle, and is robbed of another when Jimmy Piersall makes a sensational catch at the Sox bullpen in right-center field.
