1911: Highlander third baseman Roy Hartzell, acquired from the Browns in January for Jimmy Austin and Frank LaPorte, has a career day as the cleanup hitter. He hits a three-run double and another double in one inning, then piles on a sacrifice fly and a grand slam, to drive in 8 runs. It is an AL record that stands until Jimmie Foxx's 9 RBI in a game in 1933. New York romp over St. Louis 12-2.

1912: In the Highlanders' 4-1 win over the Browns, New York pitcher Jack Warhop swipes home in the 3rd. It is Warhop's second steal of home in three years.

1921: En route to a 6-4 Yankee win over the St. Louis Browns, Babe Ruth hits his 137th career home run, passing 19th century star Roger Conor's record.

1951: At Cleveland, Allie Reynolds blanks Cleveland for the first of his two no-hitters this season. Gene Woodling's 7th-inning homer off loser Bob Feller is the difference in the 1-0 game. The Chief's no-hitter is the first by a Yankee since Monte Pearson in 1938.
