1906: The Highlanders administer a 20-5 drubbing to Washington. New York LF Frank Delahanty leads the attack with a single, a triple and two homers that drive in 7 runs.










1927: The Yankees open a home stand by beating the Red Sox 10-3. Babe Ruth hits home run number 43 and leads Lou Gehrig by 2. With an 89-37 record, the Bronx Bombers now lead the second-place A's by 17 games.

1966: Bobby Richardson announces that he will retire at the end of the season. 










1995: Paul O'Neill homers in his first three at bats and drives home eight runs in leading the Yankees to an 11-6 win over the Angels.

1997: Don Mattingly's number is formally retired in a pre-game ceremony at Yankee Stadium.
