1951: Allie Reynolds pitches his second no-hitter of the season as the Yankees defeat the Red Sox 8-0 in the opener of a doubleheader. The Yankees clinch their third straight AL pennant with an 11-3 victory in the nightcap.

2005: Alex Rodriguez hits his 47th home run in the Yankees' 2-1 win over Baltimore. The shot breaks Joe DiMaggio's single-season club record for home runs by a right-handed batter, set in 1937.
